I told you once before that I was going to try and focus on the positive aspects of living in this town while I am here. (I am also going to work on eliminating negative thoughts but that is for another day.) One HUGE positive aspect? The parents' garden.
Seriously. I love, love, LOVE fresh veggies and fruit. Nothing beats getting it straight from your local farmer's market or orchard, except for when it comes from your own garden. Okay, so it isn't MY garden, but it is the garden of my parents and thankfully they have green thumbs and produce enough veggies that they must share. And I think they love me, that helps too. Some things still aren't mature yet, but seriously, look! How beautiful is this??
Bell peppers:
Corn:
Lettuce and carrots:
(That is my other gorgeous nephew Dan with the carrot he picked.)
Edamame (soy beans) that they planted just for me:
Some of the tomato plants:
Hello patty pan squash:
The Gewürztraminer grapes:
Blackberries:
Sunflowers:
Lavender:
Echinacea:
Zucchini, cucumbers and the bad boy cat Piston:
This is the princess cat Squeaker keeping guard.
And I didn't even show you the raspberries, onions, leeks, sweet peppers, butternut squash, potatoes or green beans! This is the garden of glory if I do say so myself and I bet you are jealous. If you aren't, you should be.
My current bounty consists of a few tomatoes, some grape tomatoes, patty pan squash, bell peppers, sweet peppers, zucchini and a carrot.
Don't you love my bowl? It came with a few smaller matching bowls and I just picked them up this weekend in McCall.
xoxo

Wow, really nice garden. Your parents really know their stuff.
RK, they really do! They play modest and claim trial by error but their garden is amazing! It takes a lot of work but I think they enjoy it.
